i was browsing spring flower images and came across some interesting ones. 

this is saffron sativus which is a very cool flower. i think it's not a spring flower at all, but blooms in the fall, but it is a crocus and we get saffron from it. see those red things...people literally pick those little things and dry them and they are the saffron threads we pay so much money for. i love the flavor of saffron and appreciate it all the more to think how it is obtained.the picture below is a cute striped spring crocus, not the saffron kind.

those are some interesting flowers. I liked the striped purple one.
I like the crocuses. The saffron I have in my cupboard was $13.00 for a little pack in a bottle. I need to make some paella, because that's the only thing I know how to make with saffron. And I love the bi-color grape hyacinths. Pretty pictures.
You are making me want to be outside in the garden rather than blogging!
I found some iris leaves poking up today after removing the debris on top of them. It was good to get outside and breath some fresh air.
