dennis' birthday pie and more garden

the potatoes are getting very big. it wears me out to hill them up
the sweet cherries are not ripe yet, but getting yellow. the birds haven't touched them yet, but they will soon.
my cherry tree has more cherries than it's ever had. maybe you can't see them so well, but if you click on this pic you'll see they're there.
here's my asparagus before i weeded it. now it looks better.
you can see the dill is all over in my strawberries, also they are blooming.
okay, not a garden plant, but still cute. the garden is progressing.
well lookee there, what could these be?
and these?
these, i think, are grape tomatoes. if so, they should be getting red soon.

it is dennis' birthday today. instead of a cake we had raspberry blueberry pie. yum.

and coconut cream pie which is dennis' favorite.
we started the celebration early and ate pie yesterday...for breakfast...while gardening.
these are from my bushes, i think they're pretty great. well, anyway, happy birthday to dennis.

another saturday post

it is sooo cold for june. yesterday i had the furnace on. dennis is mowing and i thought i'd snap a few pics of how the yard looks. here are some of the latest flowers in the yard. mom's iris are so numerous and large that they are laying on the lawn as usual.

this is a peony on the south side of dad's house

dennis doing his unending mowing.
the garden has changed in just one week.
the beans had barely sprouted last week. it's been so cold i'm surprised anything has grown at all.

this is my pathetic strawberry patch. i am working on it. it was overgrown with weeds and it's taking a while to get rid of wild geranium, grass and morning glory.
i kept having battery problems with my camera; i would put fresh batteries in and within a few minutes it would start saying low battery and turning off. finally i figured out the problem. when i put the batteries in to charge, i was putting one up and one down. i just thought that's what you did. then (with glasses) i noticed that both positive ends go up! now my camera works lots better and lots longer. again, it helps to put those glasses on, but what a bother.

ok, people, people, people! the first fruit (which is actually the one i put on last) is a blue plum; the one at the northwest corner of our house by the garage. the building which morgan mistook for a 'cabin' would be tessie's house. i thought someone would recognize that. the second fruit, as shelley guessed, is a peach and the shot looks north into my garden. the third fruit is a sweet cherry and the fourth is a pear. i didn't put in any apples or apricots because they are too common. what shall i put on next for you to figure out? by the way thanks for playing, it makes me feel not totally ignored.
