sunday afternoon

dennis cooked lunch today...  i took pictures.

he fried hamburgers and even toasted the buns and sauteed some onions.  the zucchini is from our garden.

the corn is from stewarts, not the garden

and the melon is also not from the garden, but stewarts.

here is a better picture of our succulent zucchini.

this morning i made this.  it is quite the cake.  a new recipe for swiss buttercream frosting was involved and i really like it.

i kind of squished it in the cutting.  everything is from scratch, both the cake and the frosting.  it said to switch the pans around in the oven after twenty minutes to make sure they baked evenly, but when i tried to do that i could tell it was a mistake.  the cakes were still not set by any means and even just touching the racks was too much.  they both fell a little in the center.

here is the cake on my cake plate.

and here is a rose from the east side of the house.  it is pretty hot lately so the roses are few and far between.

and on a random note:  dennis found this at d.i. and was so proud of himself, but i wonder who will want it.  it isn't the one about knitting etc. like i've given to anyone who will take one.  this one is about sewing cloths and patterns etc.  does anyone want this?  it appears to be from the 70's.

The cake looks terribly yummy. Is that coconut on the outside? The corn also looks good. I need to get me some. I just made a lovely tuna casserole for dinner. I thought it was also yummy. I just saw a commercial for the Opera Festival. So excited to go with you.

So, I request that I see no good looking food on anyone's blog, Jk. I had lentil soup and biscuits for dinner, and avocado sandwiches for lunch. I put too much salte in the avocado and ruined it for me. Alan ate it anyway and said it was good. He was just starving. Send me some good simple ideas for meals.

Unless it is fiction, I don't think I need any books right now. All of the food looked really yummy.
